The Origin of the Name
The name Dillenia Nova was born during the band's early days, when Overko Martynjuk and Horsticia Besselz and Oleg Gutsulyak were searching for a word that could simultaneously convey beauty, mystery, and the feeling of something new coming into existence.
Dillenia sounded like the name of an ancient flower, a forgotten land, or even a creature from a legend. In this name, the musicians heard a combination of natural beauty and gothic mystery — something delicate, yet capable of surviving among the ruins.
The word Nova added another dimension. In Latin, nova means “new,” while at the same time evoking the image of the birth of a new star — a flash of light emerging from the darkness.
Thus, Dillenia Nova became a symbol of new birth.
For the musicians themselves, the name gradually acquired a deeper meaning: it became the image of a flower growing through stone, and a star blazing above the ruins of the old world.
It was precisely this duality — beauty and strength, darkness and light, destruction and rebirth — that eventually defined not only the band's name, but also the entire creative philosophy of Dillenia Nova.
It became the symbol of the band's central idea:

Назва Dillenia Nova народилася ще на ранньому етапі існування гурту, коли Overko Martynjuk і Horsticia Besselz і Oleg Gutsulyak шукали слово, яке могло б одночасно передати красу, загадковість і відчуття появи чогось нового.
